The thought experiment called "Mary's Room", originating with Australian philosopher Frank Jackson in 1982, exemplifies the knowledge argument for the reality of the mental world. In it, Mary spends her life in a colourless environment, where she can study descriptions of colour but is unable to have the experience of colour herself. As the argument goes, if Mary learns all their is to know physically about colour and colour perception without experiencing it herself, there is still something real that she would learn if exposed to colours for the first time.

This shirt imagines a bit of mischief, where the wearer is secretly dealing in contraband colour swatches within Mary's Room.
